The amphitheatre was dedicated on Memorial Day, May 30, 1921. The Greek also hosted its first graduation that year, as it has each year since.

One of the best examples of the classical Greek style in Southern California, the amphitheatre was built on the open hillside below the existing school buildings and above the athletic field, the amphitheatre was a stunning addition to the city’s landscape and boasted sweeping views down to the sea.

Plaques on the amphitheatre walls listed all the Santa Monicans that have served in the war, with special designation for those who lost their lives.

Still the place where Santa Monica students celebrate life’s milestones, the Greek Amphitheatre is truly one of Southern California’s hidden treasures.
